Yesterday we saw this...

And it kind of made my day.  (yes I took  picture of two unknowing strangers... yes I feel a little weird about it... still wanted to share). Take a look at this elderly couple holding hands and feeding ducks. Pretty sweet right? I thought so too.

This way to Memory Lane

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day.  Mine was really wonderful. Parker made the Perfect day for me. Roses, surprises, tradition, good food, and a bouquet of soda in glass bottles.

Last week I watched my sisters kids so she could go to Vegas with her husband. And my other sister and her husband. And my other sister and her husband. And my mom and dad.

So from Thursday to Saturday I was with kids. And I realized that time is a funny thing. It can take you from being the one being watched while the parents are gone to the one doing the watching. However, I also realized that somethings never change.

Examples:

There will always be something exciting about going outside without a coat on after winter... even if the winter was funny and not all that cold like this last one.

Star Wars will always be cool.

Kicking a soccer ball around in the back yard will always make me wonder if I should have stuck with it a little bit longer.

Pranking people is always going to be fun. I don't think I will ever reach an age where I don't get a big kick out of a proper prank.
(Riley and I used some old red coats and the dark basement to scare the boys. They were busy playing play station when we snuck in the back the door.  My arms were better hidden than in this picture to give the illusion we were not two people but one very tall awkward looking one.)

We also soaped my parents. (a favorite prank from my own mischievous childhood) You just put some dish soap on the porch. And then you sprinkle some laundry detergent on top. It just dries in to a white mess. When they see a white mess on the porch the first reaction is to spray it off with a hose. And when they do, the find themselves and everything around them covered in bubbles. The more they spray, the more bubbles they make.  It's perfectly harmless.... and really really funny.

Okay so maybe this makes me a bad example. But my parents really did get a laugh out of it.

And my sister Lisa. She will never change. I never want her to. (Now remember I am 7 years younger than Lisa.) I can still remember when we would get bored she would always want to go to the pet store "just to look". Or anytime we saw a sign for free puppies free kittens free any animal... we had to pull over and get out "just to look." And she would look and look, and I would have to convince her, Lisa you really can't get that mom would kill you.
One time she even had me help her try and hide a kitten in the closet. (that was not successful in case you are wondering and we had to find someone to take it)
She loves animals. I think it is awesome. Now she has a puppy. And over the weekend she said she might get a bunny or a chinchilla. Well she showed up with a bunny and two chinchillas!!

Ok I don't have a picture of the chinchillas, but if you don't know what they are look them up. They kind of creeped me out at first.. but the kids love them and the defiantly grow on you. Oh Lisa... Don't ever change. Your kids love all those animals.

Parker had to work. Go to school. Be a grown up.  So he met me at my parents house really late Saturday night so we could spend the holiday down there with everyone.  But for the 3 days I didn't see him . I missed him a lot. We spend quite a bit of time together up here in Logan. But I still get bummed when we don't get to hang out. What can I say, somethings never change...

100000

 Jeepy,
It seems like a lifetime ago that you were Lisa's. But she will never let me forget you belonged to her first. But I loved you even then. Those memories of riding shot gun in my sisters new Jeep- music loud windows down (always. even in the rain. windows down, heat on feet) are happy memories.
You were the designated vehicle for me to learn to drive in. (Sorry about that. Also sorry to Kyle's Camry.... Twice.)
All through high school you were part of a car-pool and you fought valiantly through after school traffic, whenever we couldn't sneak out before the end of the day. (Which if we are being honest, was not very often)
As I packed to leave for college, it was comforting that you were coming with. Remember that first drive up to Logan? The one when we didn't know the way and were a little nervous? The same one we have made countless times now.
And then you helped me impress that Parker kid. Remember how surprised he was when he saw you. He was all  "You drive a Jeep?" and I replied in my nonchalant I'm real cool voice "Of course I do." or something equally as dorky and stuck up.
Things were going great. And then that Parker kid ran you straight into a deer. He felt pretty bad about that one.
I know you got over it though because at the end of freshman year as we drove out of Logan and headed towards Alpine it felt like we were leaving home.... it didn't take long to realize it wasn't the place we were missing.
So we drove up to the top of a mountain, (because you are a champ and can do things like drive up mountains) Parker got down on one knee and 11 months and 2 days later you had a Just Married sign on your back.
You have been there through it all. So when Parker ran into the apartment and said that you were almost about to hit 100000 miles we took you for a little drive so we could roll into 100000 all together.  Because as crazy as it is (almost as crazy as writing a letter to a Jeep) he knew I would be really sad if I missed it. You made it. Survived Lisa, Me, and that incident with Parker and the deer.
100000 miles- Congrats, you are a champ.
