The Celebration of July 22

Birth(day)? Birth(weekend). Just couldn't stop celebrating.
While we were in Nevada, John and Michelle gave me an air mattress for my birthday.
So we wanted to break it out and use it for my birthday. Logically we went camping/ half camping/ went up the canyon ate dinner played some cards sat by the fire and read ghost stories then headed back home and slept in our living room on the new awesome air mattress.
The next day we headed down to Alpine where my parents took us to dinner and a movie.
Movie, Captain America (Awesome)
Dinner, Market Street Grill (Favorite)
Running into Lisa and Ryan (Bonus)
Getting invited for late night birthday brownies  (Lucky)
The Princess Theme (Gracie's touch)
Ryan Lighting the Candles with a Blow Torch (Priceless)
see fin learning some fire safety tips from his dad
Thank You Pioneers for all that you did for this great state, and Thank You Utah for celebrating all of it on July 24th, exactly two days after the 22nd making it legal for us to light off fireworks on my birthday. Also thank you for finally changing the fire work laws.
Us about to wake up all of Eagle Mountain with some big loud fire works.
Next Stage of Celebration:
Family gathering at my favorite breakfast place One Man Band.
Thank You Sarah for my One Man Band T-Shirt. I thought the only way to get one was to work there. It really is a dream come true. Please notice the Party Hats. Wal*Mart I can't say that I am surprised you let me down. Why would you only have Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party hats? Party Hats are for Birthdays of all ages. Thank goodness you at least had the sense to have some Star Wars stickers in stock. Instead of Pooh holding a balloon that said 1st Birthday we made it so he was holding a string that lead to a picture of Yoda.
We spent the afternoon playing games and eating Pizza at the Warners. Where we saw some really great performances, including this one:
This seems like enough birthday to last a whole year but Parker had a surprise planned. We met up with some of my friends and then went Disco Skating. Yes my husband loves me enough to dress up and go roller skating with me. How many girls can say that? It was a lot of fun, and really sweet.
Yeah... we went all out. Don't I look older and more mature?
Biggest surprise of all?
The Hamburger Cake. I always wanted one as a kid and never got one. You were right mom, it really is all frosting.... and it was awesome.
Last but not least Parker gave me this watch
Thank You Parker, best birthday yet.

Nevada

We just got back from visiting Parker's parents in Nevada. It is quite the road trip and for most of the 10 hour drive this is all we see.....
But the drive is well worth it. We love the time we get to spend with John and Michelle. Their home is beautiful and Michelle loves pictures as much as I do so Parker's childhood is spread out over the walls, I love being there. This is a picture of Parker and I walking in their neighborhood. Pretty right?
They get bear in the back yard! It is the coolest thing. Michelle showed us a video she took (right off their deck) of a mamma bear and two baby cubs. Those cubs were so cute and Parker (who is still disappointed that we can't have a puppy in our apartment) pointed out that our contract says nothing about having a bear as a pet... something to think about.
Side Note: They have a beagle her name is Casey, she is adorable and when we came in she ran to me before Parker. It's official, I'm part of the family.
My mother in-law is a hiking PRO. I love it when she takes us out on hikes. It is always a blast even though Parker and I get tired and she could go on forever.
This time she took us up part of the Tahoe Rim Trail.
And it was awesome.
These are Snow Flowers, they only bloom right after the snow melts.
There's the lake!

We also made a trip up to Tahoe to tour the old historical mansions. Reminded me of the old movie "Somewhere in Time"  I also got to see the camp ground John grew up going to. He even took Michelle with his family when they were dating.

After this adventure we went to see Super 8, where I learned that intense movies with suspenseful parts are  really fun when Michelle is there and that Parker and is dad pay really close attention to movie credits....

It is so nice to have another place that feels like home. Michelle and I went out and found the coolest nail polish and she painted my nails (and her own, I warned her of my inability to paint nails)
Thank You Parker for capturing this action shot:

Kyle and Sarah came for dinner (which was delicious) we were excited to see them. I didn't even think to get a picture. But that night Michelle made Pineapple Upside Down Cake, which I had never tried before. It was good. Really good. So good this is all that was left when I took a picture of it the next morning.
I am so glad that it worked out we could get a visit in before Parker starts his heavier class load this fall. We are so lucky to have such a fun place to go and family that is so happy to see us!

It's a great time to be a Yankee fan, just like it always is

Being a Yankee fan, sometimes, sometimes a lot, people give me a really hard time. To them it's like I have sold out. I cheer for the Yankees just because they win and they win just because they have the most money to throw around. This doesn't offend me but people couldn't be more wrong. See I grew up in a time and neighborhood where baseball, for the most part, was old news. No one could stand to watch 9 innings of baseball because it moves slower than football and basketball. But baseball will always be "Americas Pass Time" because of something that I call the Spirit of the Game. There is just something special about baseball and it isn't about who wins or loses. But the Yankees have always done and continue to do that something special the best. Don't believe me? Still determined to hate pinstripes? Take a look at what your missing out on.

July 9th 2011
Derek Jeter becomes the first Yankee to hit 3000. He is also the 2nd player in all of Major League history to hit # 3000 out of the park.
"It means a lot," Jeter said. "It's a number that has meant a lot in the history of the game, because not too many people have done it before. To be the only Yankee to do it ... to be the only Yankee to do anything is pretty special."
Jeter then went on to hit five for five.
My favorite part? How teammates rushed to meet him as he crossed home plate.
"That was obviously very spontaneous," Posada said. "Everybody ran out there and gave him a big hug. I told him I was proud of him. I got a little emotional because I was so happy for him."

Alright and if that doesn't make you feel good inside, this will
July 11 2011
Robinson Cano goes to the Home Run Derby for the first time, and wins it.
"It's the kind of thing that you dream of as a kid, watching back in the day, guys like [Mark] McGwire and [Sammy] Sosa," Cano said. "You want to know how it feels to hit a long ball and the fans cheer for you."
The third round of the Derby turned into a Yankees Red Sox throw down. Adrian Gonzalez hit set the bar high with 11 home runs, but Cano didn't look to worried when he came back up to the plate. Maybe that's because his dad was the one pitching to him.
"Every time he hit a home run in the last round, I said, '10 more, nine more, eight more,'" Jose Cano said. "And when he got the last one, I said, 'Just one, just give me the one, that's it.'" (Quotes taken from MLB.COM)
This was something else to watch. I bet even David Ortiz was excited to see the 12th ball leave the park. How could you not cheer for a father and son team like this?
The day I turned 18 my dad and I were on a subway heading towards the new Yankee Stadium. We stood shoulder to shoulder with all the Yankee fans headed to the game.  Over the roar of the subway you could hear everyone talking baseball. I was taking it all in trying to wrap my head around the fact that this was actually happening when my dad nudged me with his elbow and nodded towards a group of fans standing near us. There was an old man in a faded Yankee hat, and with him his son, his grandson, and his great grandson. Four generations on their way to the game, something that to us looked like they did a lot.
That's it. That's why I love baseball. That's why I love the Yankees.

things we are loving right now

#1.
This place. Parker and I love to play put put (mini golf) and we found a cheap put put place in providence. Last time we played I slayed Parker (by one) so he needed a chance to redeem himself. This time we tied, we both even got hole in ones. That's cause for a good day.
#2.
When Parker and I were younger we were both really into The Series of Unfortunate Events. But it took so long for all 13 books to come out, neither of us finished. And it has always drove us crazy because they are amazing books. Solution, now we are proud owners of the:
That's right all 13 of these beautiful unfortunate books.
Parker insisted that we both start back at The Bad Beginning and read all 13 from start to finish.
 Which brings us to:
  #2.5
Read-a-thon

#3
The Side Walk Stands down on Main Street. Oh Logan thank you for being so cool.

#4
Alfred Hitchcock
There is so much more to him than PSYCHO.
we have been watching these:
and our instant queue looks like this:

why? because Alfred knew what he was doing.... strangely delightful is the word that comes to mind.

Best summer ever? Yes.

4th of July

4th of July is my very favorite holiday and tradition is really important to me. This year Parker and I got to start some traditions of our very own. One of which might have included tacky t-shirts.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS!

6-4-11

So tomorrow nation wide people will be lighting off fire works in honor of our one month mark, just kidding. But here are some pictures from the wedding! (and by some I mean way more than some... they were all so good I couldn't just pick some)

Here we are Mr. and Mrs.

Here come 13 of my very best friends. After years of sitting at the kids table for Thanksgiving and Christmas, after so many sleep overs they had at grandmas house , after countless laughs and good times I love them like siblings.

This day was perfect because of the people we love. We never could have made it to this point without are wonderful parents.

John and Michelle thank you so much for welcoming me into your wonderful family. Thank you for raising such a remarkable son. We wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for your love and support. I am grateful everyday to be Robertson. We love you!

Mom and Dad, thank you so much for loving me through everything and for welcoming Parker into our family. Thank you for always teaching me what was important in life. You have been such a blessing to me and to Parker. We love you!

Thank you to everyone who came to be with us and share our excitement.

 Nothing better than Family

Parker I love you. Here is what the start of forever looked like.

What girl wouldn't want four sisters? Especially sisters like mine. Sarah, Shannon, Jill, Lisa, you are my examples and friends and I love you. Thanks for being the best sisters a girl could ask for.

Parker has talked about how cool his older brothers are from the day that I met him. Nash thank you for not letting Kyle beat up on Parker too bad and Kyle thanks for making sure he wasn't a whimp.

. We had been waiting for so long for this day to come and it was so fun to celebrate. Everything was beautiful and wonderful.

(our first dance)
