Jack Vincent Turns One

Everyone tells you how fast time will fly by once you have a baby. It's right up there next to -sleep while you can- at the top of the list of things people tell you over and over while your pregnant with your first child.
It's not that I didn't believe them. I did. But I couldn't even begin comprehend how fast time would actually go.  And now I know why everyone kept saying it. Because in a blink of an eye there we were. Celebrating the 365 days that had passed since that very first moment the doctors placed my wiggly, slimy, perfect little newborn boy on my chest.
I could never list all of the ways that life has changed since that moment. Many of those changes are deep rooted in my soul and difficult to describe. But I can tell you that life has changed- for good and for the better.
We did the first time parent thing and threw an outrageously huge party knowing full well Jack won't remember a thing about it. We couldn't help ourselves. We wanted to celebrate the best year of our lives. We wanted our son to be surrounded by people who love him. We wanted to do something big for little Jack Vincent because he make the world a better place simply by being a part of it. So to all of those who came and helped us accomplish all of that, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It meant the world to us to have you there.
Jack loved his chocolate cake. He really dug into it. He knows whats up. He was slightly overwhelmed when everyone gathered to sing happy birthday to him. But other than that he was his usual happy self. Our little party animal had a blast.
This past year has truly been extraordinary. Jack is an incredible little boy. Parker and I thank our Heavenly Father daily for trusting us to be his parents.
Do you want to know what else is on that list of things people will tell you over and over while your pregnant with your first child? They will tell you, you will love them more than you can even imagine. And guess what? They will be right about that too.
